An INTERVIEW
with the Author

About "Learn the Law" Interview About the Author A Cover Story

Q. Why a pseudonym?
A. It helps enhance the mystique of the law, and I am really a coward at heart. Would you want your name on a book like this?

Q. Why did you write the book?
A. To do a cathartic purge after graduating from law school. I wrote the book immediately after passing two bar examinations one after the other. First in England, then in Jamaica, and I was also working in a job while doing the second one. Law was overflowing inside my head night and day, and I had to get it out somehow. That's how the book came to be - from the germ of an idea about saying something about a subject I had studied in such long, sustained and great detail.

Q. What are you trying to say in this book?
A. I am saying that the law is intriguing because it occupies vast territory, both geographically and intellectually. The law is also quite amusing at times, if we allow ourselves time to focus on and laugh at some of its lunatics, lunacies and absurdities. I am acutely aware that law is a vitally important part of all human societies. In the book I hope that I have written accurately and sufficiently humorously, while at the same time saying some insightful things, a bit seriously in parts, but in the main in light vein. The book is really an exercise in "fun learning", and I am saying that we need to laugh a bit, but also understand some of the issues of the day affecting us all. I have tried to package all of that together in the book and present the law globally and as simply as possible with lots of mischievous fun thrown in.

Q. Do you have plans for more works?
A. If you mean on this book, then yes if there is a readership out there that wants more - I can give it to them that punishment. If you mean writing generally, I have completed a children's book, and I have an anthology of poems that I will be linking to a charitable educational project of mine, for disadvantaged children.

Q. So, you have more to come?
A. On the law – maybe; as I said, if a readership wants it. "Learn the Law" is written so that it can be revised and up-dated on new issues as these unfold in the world. Let's see how the public reacts, and how the sales go, and then I will make my decision based on those signals.

Q. Thank you for this interview?
A. Thank you for your time.
